Mr. Magoo VS The Tornado: Magoo 1, Tornado 0

Well, I thought I didn't like thunder. Now I know, that isn't so bad. Tornados are SCARY!
I was home all by myself keeping watch on the house while Joe & Betsy were working and all of a sudden it was the worst storm I can remember. There was lots of lightning and lots of thunder. I decided it would be prudent to find somewhere safe in the house so I went to the sunroom to hide behind a chair. I suppose I wasn't hiding so much as taking cover. I'm not a wimp. After a few moment I realized there were too many windows and this room was a bit scary, so I bolted out of there and high tailed it for the bathroom. I then took cover in the bathroom during the worst of it. All I could hear were big booming thunder claps and these awful cracks and snaps. Then all of a sudden, my friend Pete who lives up the road came into the house. I was soooo happy to see him. He gave me lots of hugs and I gave him lots of kisses. He took me outside and it was crazy, there were all kinds of things blowing around and there were some trees that were snapped and laying on the ground. Pete gave me a bottle of water so that I wouldn't be thirsty and put me back in the house. I was very happy to have gotten a visitor, for a moment, I thought I might be the last living being on earth. I was very worried about Betsy and Joe as they had not yet returned home. I took it upon myself to keep watch of the house and make sure nothing happened. A little while later, Jean, my other friend from up the road, came down and fed me. It was a nice treat to have some people come and see me during this crazy time. I was getting lonely. She gave me lots of hugs and again, I returned with lots of kisses.

I was pretty worn out by this time, so I went ot bed for the night, but I was still worried about Joe & Betsy. The next morning, really early, I heard a little commotion in the front yard and then I heard my name! It was Joe & Betsy! They finally had made it home after waiting out the storm and then hiking through the jungle that was our road. I was so excited when they opened the door. They gave some really good hugs and as expected, I gave some really good kisses. I could barely contain myself. I was worried they got stuck under one of the snapping trees or sucked up into the swirling sky. But luckily, they were smart and stayed away from the storm until it blew over. I was just glad everyone was ok.

The next couple of days were pretty exciting, I got to lay on the front porch and watch lots of people walking by and cutting trees, fixing telephone poles and working not he power lines. A couple of people came by to say hi and I was very well behaved and didn't even slobber them too bad! Now I keep a real close eye on Joe & Betsy, I make sure they take me with them when they leave, I'd really rather not do another tornado alone!

I hope everyone else is well.

  1. Magoo - we had no idea the tornado went through your town. We saw lots about Springfield on the TV, but I bet if they'd known you were there (and alone no less), the TV crews would have been out in a heartbeat for a personal interview. You're lucky to have such good friends to look in on you and take care of you when your parents couldn't get home. I'm glad everyone is OK. You're a VERY brave guy and we're SO proud of you!
